Heat pumps are revolutionizing traditional heating and cooling systems.
At first glance, they resemble air conditioners, but they are much more advanced. Installed outdoors—either on a wall or the ground—heat pumps extract hot or cold air from the environment (air, ground, or water) and convert it to the opposite temperature, providing heating in winter and cooling in summer. This technology reduces electricity consumption by at least 2.5 times.
How Do Heat Pumps Work?
Heat pumps work seamlessly with underfloor heating, radiators, and various heating systems. Their efficiency depends on the technical characteristics of the heating system. Even if the calculated capacity is insufficient, the pump automatically integrates with existing electric or gas heating systems to ensure comfort without interruptions.
To enhance energy savings, an additional water storage tank can be installed to preserve thermal energy and improve heating efficiency, especially in winter.
For example, for every 1 kWh of electricity consumed, a heat pump can generate up to 4 kWh or more of thermal energy. This efficiency is measured by COP (Coefficient of Performance), which in this case is COP=4. The smaller the temperature difference between outdoor air and indoor water, the higher the COP.
Perfect Pairing with Solar Energy
Heat pumps work perfectly with solar power systems. Solar panels generate free electricity, which powers the heat pump and other household appliances, maximizing efficiency and reducing costs.
