The solar energy leader in Armenia Shtigen has designed and installed solar hybrid station to power the Yerevan server site of the biggest biotechnological park in the region FMD K&L company. The system’s advantage is that it powers uninterruptedly even when there is a blackout in the grid. Two hybrid stations were installed for FMD K&L company providing 8kW of power together. They will generate 12 750kWh of electricity/year and save 535 000 AMD annually.

Thanks to the stations the there will be 5.7t less CO2 emissions each year.
“Taking into account the activity of FMD K&L company and the management’s requirement to be ensured from blackouts and voltage fluctations we have designed a PV system which will uninterruptedly supply them with electricity. In addition to the advantages of a standard grid-tied station (own energy generation, savings, reduction of the risk of rise of the electricity tariffs, environment protection) the hybrid station have a couple more”, – told Shtigen founder and CEO Hayk Shekyan presenting each of three main advantages in detail.
In addition to the advantages of a standard grid-tied station (own energy generation, savings, reduction of the risk of rise of the electricity tariffs, environment protection) the hybrid station have a couple more”, – told Shtigen founder and CEO Hayk Shekyan presenting each of three main advantages in detail.First, during blackouts in night time the electricity supply won’t be interrupted thanks to the energy accumulated in the battery. The full autonomy working duration depends on the battery quantity which is defined by the customer’s requirements. The FMD K&L company’s station’s autonomy is limited by 4hrs.
Second, during blackouts in daytime the system keeps on working unlike the grid-tied ones which stop generating electricity when a blackout happens. Third, normalizes the voltage fluctations in the grid. For example, when your grid’s has fierce voltage fluctations which can harm your home appliances the hybrid system’s inverter can switch the power source to the batteries for safety reasons.
As Shtigen’s CEO mentioned the hybrid PV stations are highly needed not only in server sites but also in fish farms, industrial fridge systems and every business which can have losses due to blackouts or voltage fluctations.
