Hybrid PV station is the combination of grid-tied and off-grid systems. In comparison with a grid-tied system a hybrid station will keep on supplying electricity to the consumer when a blackout happens. Hybrid solar systems are connected to the grid but at the same time they are equipped with batteries. They are used for electricity supply-sensitive applications.
The battery’s capacity is calculated using the maximum possible blackout duration and the maximum power needed by the consumer devices. The system is grid-tied and when the batteries are fully charged the excess of electricity is passed to the grid using Net Metering system.
Application: ideal for blocks where blackouts often happen
Pros: irreplaceable for families with blackout-sensitive devices like aquariums Cons: needs more investments than a grid-tied system
